Although she never made it to the finished product, Elza was prominently featured in a lot of Resident Evil 2 pre-release. She was fully playable in the beta versions known as Resident Evil 1.5 and a lot of info and concept arts of her can be found easily. Capcom themselves paid tribute to her in the recent remake.
Being a proto-version of Claire Redfield, Elza and her shared a lot of traits. She was a courageous and compassionate character, although much less "motherly" than Claire ended up being in the finished product. Which fits with the slightly edgier tone 1.5 was going with.
And that's basically what I'm looking for : A meaner, edgier version of Claire. Well, 90s game version of what's edgy. She says hell and damn, she tells you to stop whining and to kill your friend. You know, "edgy".

[Reminiscing with a tint of culpability] My mom made this suit for my first ever race. She used to say that.. It would be her way to keep me safe, even when she's not there. I thought it was kind of dumb back then but..
