Ep 1 Casting / Welcome to the Brass Eagle (PODCAST)
Taylor May for Lily
MAJOR ROLE
Lily is Amara's younger sister, whom we meet at a few different ages throughout episode 1. Although she and Amara have their ups and downs, they ultimately love each other.
While initially very upset when Amara leaves to pursue the life of an itinerant musician, her anger eventually cools down and she and her sister resume regular contact.
For line 1, she is around 6-8 years old. She is about 11-13 in line 3. For line 3, she is closer to 14 and should sound a bit less childish and more frail as her sickness becomes more evident.
Lily is open to any actor regardless of identity or background, but an English (British RP) accent is preferred for this role.

Each episode will be rehearsed during a live remote table read with the other actors, director, and producer in order to provide notes and feedback. A secondary recording session will then be scheduled so the actors can interact and record their final takes. If necessary, pickups will be requested outside of the scheduled calls.
The goal will be to have as many actors as possible present for the reads to make the acting feel natural and believable, but scheduling will be flexible to accommodate each actor's availability.
LILY: It’s not fair! You can’t leave! Mom, tell her she can’t leave! // MOM: Lily, I can't do that. We're both happy for you, Amara. // LILY :No! I hate her!
(age 11-13) LILY: I'm doing fine, I guess? I’ve got some friends, but it feels like I’m always way behind. // AMARA: (chuckling) I remember when I was there. I do not envy you. // LILY: Yeah. It’s…just a lot, you know? I’m always tired.
(age 14; as if reading a letter) Dear Amara - I’m...sick. We don’t know from what. It’s been weeks, now, and it’s not getting better. Mom hasn’t said much about it, but the doctors…I’ve seen it in their eyes. They aren’t optimistic.
