Annie Cooper is the 17-year-old daughter of the main character, James Cooper (“Cooper”) who is the County Sheriff of Redwood, a fictional southern town.

Annie shares a strained relationship with her father after the death of her mother, Abigail Cooper, whom passed under mysterious circumstances when Annie was only 12-years-old. Following the tragedy, Annie sought support and comfort from friends as her father’s life became devoted to solving the mystery behind her mother's death. As such, Annie has become withdrawn and quiet around Cooperas as she has gotten older.

Annie has befriended the “popular” group at school. She often tries her best to blend in with them, caves to peer-pressure often, and overall does her best to “fit in”. Being the “untouched” daughter of the Sheriff, Annie seen as the 'shiny new toy' by the boys in the group, and is overall respected by most as a result. Despite her connections, she maintains a very close relationship to Tala Souix- a quiet and unassuming Indigenous boy whom she grew up with.

Annie is naïve, quiet, and curious by nature. She’s a gentle soul whom despite her differences with her father, loves him deep down and misses what they used to have. She wants nothing more than some semblance of normalcy in her life.
