[Stage Direction: Brian sees his girlfriend, Lucy waiting for him at the front gate of the Carnival. She is wearing an angel costume. She sees him and waves him over.]

"Hey angel. Love the wings."

"Hey, a skeleton shirt still counts as a Halloween costume.”

**Laughs.**

“Fine. You win. I guess I’m just not as creative as you.”

**Brian cries out in surprise when he hears the clown laughing behind them.** 

“What the hell man?!”

[Stage Direction: Brian runs through the crowd, searching for Lucy frantically but she is nowhere to be found.]

"Lucy!"

[Brian as the narrator]

I never liked clowns. Something about their shrill voices and painted smiles made my stomach turn. It was all so artificial. Their laughter and their tears. None of it was real. It was as if aliens from outer space crash landed on planet earth and tried to become one of us.
