Reliving Elegy: Byron the Argent
LivSmith for Byron the Argent
A monster with no delusions of the horror his actions bring, Byron the Argent is an Immortal Hunter serving as a high-ranking member of a religious faction known as the 'Sarenites'. Though the goals of his peers are just and noble, he has never played within the laws or doctrines of their order and holds little respect for mortals. He abides their existence for the simple fact that they share a common enemy.
- He is menacing and cruel, but not maddened. Everything he says has a 'poetic quality' to it, as if to make a rhythm from prose. He does not lie, but instead speaks terrible truths.
- In reference to the above and all to follow, it should be acknowledged that Byron is NOT a good person. He has committed sins worse than ending a life prematurely. If you audition, know that you will portray someone who lacks innocence, and isn't concerned if he takes it from others. You will never be asked to read a scene that graphically depicts those details, but I understand that even the implication can be the end of the line for some.
- When speaking to those he considers 'worthy of death', he feigns loyalty and charisma, occasionally letting a mocking chuckle or dark intent slip into his words. Listening to him should bring uneasiness and tension, drowning the sense of safety in those around him. Those unaffected or used to his methods of speech are more annoyed than scared.
- When speaking to those he considers 'unworthy of death', he is beyond them. All that cannot die with reason and purpose made from their own desire are unworthy to die with anything resembling fulfilment or joy. Those he is addressing should be terrified into silence, praying for mercy from someone with no respect for the concept.
- The last section is unique: a collection of short lines in a quick format; comparable to special moves in Fighting Games or abilities in MoBAs. Get aggressive, get confident, get violent! I want to hear variety! Pick as many as you like and express your vision for the character. If you're confident, add some of your own! Have fun with them!
(Speaking with his direct superior, snarky and adamant.)
"PAH, who are YOU to judge what's 'right'? If I desire to speak curses, I'll shout them! If I desire to speak truth, then it will be known!""What?! Manipulation? You accuse me, Cardinal? Shame on you for insulting my interpretation. (Mocking laughter)."
(Speaking to an unruly mortal, Decisive and Rage.)
"You've slowed me down (vicious snarl, transitioning to a shout)."
(Speaking to a crowd that just witnessed an atrocity. Cold and uncaring, knowing that he has reestablished order.)
"The choice you are given, mortals, is to remain silent or die, in a moment of color and noise. I will not waste my time deciding for you."
(Miscellaneous attacks and noises)
You blinked (SNARL).
MERCURY CLAW!
This blood is divinity!
This blood is hatred!
GET UP AND DIE LOUDLY! (VIOLENT LAUGH)
GETTING TIRED? UNACCEPTABLE.
[Snarl-snickering]
THE UNREAL BECKONS.
You thought you could challenge me so brazenly? How DROLL! (Snarl)
(A finishing blow. After the first 'strike' and following ellipses, the remainder is rushed in a quiet, surprisingly reserved tone as he times a second blow with a brief recital of scripture.)
(HOWL)!...
-We, the devout, the burning, the shattered remnant of they who were once whole; give me strength that I might deliver this luminous soul to you, bringing peace to that lonely eternity, if only for a moment of certainty in knowing another-
rrRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!!
