Asgore's Theme - Original Lyrics
Little Owl for Asgore Dreemuur
Asgore Dreemuur is a kind-hearted, troubled king from the hit indie game Undertale. His name translates to "Reluctant Murderer," as this is what he is. After all of monsterkind was magically sealed underground by humans in a race war, he reigned as a pacifist king until his adopted human child ran off with his son and got them both killed during a failed attempt to free the monsters. Grieved by the loss of his children, he made a vow to kill any other humans who came into the Underground to collect their SOULs: if seven were collected, they would be powerful enough to break the magic barrier keeping the monsters trapped.
Please sing the sample lyrics along to this recording, which varies slightly from the theme which exists in-game. Only include the recording of your voice; I will layer it over the song myself if I like your sound. Please note that this is a deeply emotional song; you should be acting as well as singing.
I've included a rough demo of myself singing if you aren't good at following along with a melody line. This should be an indicator of the tune and emotion in the song. The song is also clearly out of my range, and I am jumping between octaves to be able to sing it at all. You are by no means required or expected to do this.
UPDATE: Please do not use other people's auditions for reference. I've started getting multiple auditions in a row that sing the same wrong notes or put words in the same wrong order, and I'm betting the reason is that people are using other auditions as reference points rather than the demo I provided. The demo is there for a reason.
[Tune from 0:00-0:18]
After this
There’ll be no more pain
No more Mercy,
No more to SAVE
No more loss
No more to enslave
No more will I pray
For the day
[Tune from 1:34-2:01]
Say
Can’t you stay
For just another day?
Is there no way?
Couldn’t we be
Family?
It’d be just you and me
And we’ll see
The flowers and the trees
You’d be free
That would be my decree
Couldn’t we make it happen?
[Tune from 2:29-2:53]
The ends have to justify the means, or
We are never getting out of here ali-i-ive
But in the end I fear I’m still a coward
And I won’t have the drive
And I’ll let you survive
And I’ll ruin their lives
And the end will arrive!
