My silent little corner of the internet to put a face to what you hear:Â https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgrsdfpzeZjb_dmEUT_yMXg
I've been immersed in theatre throughout my youth and continued in the creative arts right from high school all through university.
I know this is and will be difficult, I mean I fail more than win and it gets quite depressing, but still I work hard, and uphold that determination and faith ... for the understanding this'll be quite the tale and every bit as fun, with nothing ever going to waste, somehow now YOU are reading excerpts of my story whilst others are hearing me try, fail and succeed.Â
Based in my suburb of Hallam in Victoria, Australia, I am currently recording out of my humble, yet effective home studio space.
Elements of my setup are:
- Neumann TLM 103 for my main workhorse XLR microphone, good if you are a professional studio sound engineer or commercial business looking to work with a familiar sounding 'industry standard' microphone on the technical side of things. I also own and use a Rode NT1 that I routinely swap between as needed. These days I am also repping the MXL 440 to show that the performance is key and that you don't need what is vogue to get things done.
I own plenty of other microphones and like to experiment hoping that you hire me for what you hear me do rather than primarily be just concerned with what I am screaming into.
- Rode ensemble 'lyre' shock mount and metal pop filter, mounted on a generic karaoke mic stand. To eliminate those atomic plosives. Dedicated Neumann spider shock mount for the TLM 103.
- Focusrite Scarlet Solo Gen 2 as my main 48V phantom power audio interface. Other listed interfaces are my backups and wanderer gear.
- AKG-K52, Behringer HPM1000 and KNK KRS 6400's for my 'cans' to allow for monitoring feedback. All closed back to reduce sound 'bleed'.
- Ableton Live 11 is my DAW.
- Lenovo G51-35 for the workstation laptop.
- Myself as the persona wielder behind the mic. Often sipping on nature's finest (water) or perhaps a Flying Power. Â
Paramount to outputting the best audio I can, is my walk-in closet. I've decked it out with acoustic treatment to the best of my knowledge and ability, in an effort to reduce reflections off the walls and ceiling as well as keep the overall noise floor down, in tandem with a noise gate and other useful postproduction elements. For the most part however, the sound you hear is as close to raw as it can be so as to be completely malleable for audio engineers to then optimize for end users.Â
I am always giving different takes for whatever characters and scripts I encounter on this endless quest, and I am looking forward to working with you all the same.
Feel free to peruse my demos and expect regular updates to as I keep things fresh and continue to grow.
Something not just anything, if it's worth doing, I'll give it my everything.
Thanks for checking this starry-eyed wild card out. Stay safe out there and God Bless:)
