Cloé Unclothed: Amanda Bownde and Pooch Fox - Supporting Roles for Original Multi-Media Anime-Influenced Project [$50/hr]
Erin Culpepper for Amanda Bownde
About Amanda
Amanda Bownde (pronounced Bound) is a lower-middle-class girl from an increasingly poor area somewhere in the midwestern United States. She's 19 when we first meet her serving tables in a small, family owned sushi restaurant. She clings very strongly to her belief that there is good in the world, although that view seems to be under attack constantly. Her already bad anxiety is pushed further when the restaurant closes and she has to get a job elsewhere. In desperation, Amanda begins working multiple soulless part-time jobs where she feels very alone and emotionally drained. Still, she holds on to her child-like optimistic wonder as she's pushed to her darkest hour. Miraculously, the owner of the bank she works part-time for decides to visit for a quick withdrawal.
People generally judge Amanda to be empty-headed and easily influenced, but she is not empty-headed at all. Instead, she is overcome by an intense ambient fear that has creeped into every aspect of her being. She will just follow instructions and accepts things as they come because she's afraid of the consequences of rebellion. Others must know better than her, she thinks. She has very little self-confidence after being bullied and ignored in school.
Not pleasing people, and therefore 'making the world happier,' would devastate her, so she doesn't stand up for herself. She believes that she's stupid and doesn't let her imagination out very often because she's not confident in her ideas. There is a misalignment with the way the world treats her. She is so focused on helping and being kind and gentle that it blinds her to the sometimes mean-spirited intentions of others.
Amanda is heavily influenced by her emotions and tries to do what makes her happy, but she finds more fulfillment out of sacrificing her wants and needs for others. She is devastated by the destruction of her town, of the environment, and by the increasingly cynical attitudes of everyone around her. Yet still, she tries to ignore the bad and remember what she can do to be good. She likes to help the environment in her own small, but meaningful ways. Occasionally, she picks up trash on the street and it fills her with pride and happiness.
Amanda is incredibly nervous, fragile, sweet, loving, and always as kind as she can gather the courage to be. Her lack of self-confidence limits her greatly and her anxiety sometimes leaves her feeling physically ill. Some people without patience find her annoying, others find her endlessly amusing. It's not her fault that she's so much fun to pick on for some people.
Amanda's Voice
Amanda is timid and anxious by nature, she has a lot of reservations and tries hard to live a peaceful, happy life. She is from the Midwest, which is to say she has a country-adjacent accent, but not-full blown. Someone with a natural Midwestern accent would be preferred, but the accent is not a requirement. She sometimes slurs her words and stutters when she gets nervous. She has the cadence and tone of a very stereotypical anime girl - kind of empty-headed, overly optimistic, and oblivious at times, very much stumbling through life. She often daydreams to escape stressful situations, and panics when her bubble gets popped. She has a very big heart and a vibrant imagination that makes up for her sometimes child-like communication skills. She has something rare that the most cynical of people could only wish to obtain.

If you ask her she'll always give you a free meal. Every time. I just say it's cold and she's still too dumb to realize it's supposed to be cold! It's sushi.AMANDA sees a puppy. She expresses her thoughts out loud as she interacts with it, like she's narrating her experience. She thinks it is fun to talk to herself like this. She is happy and care-free.

(Gasp!) A puppy! Wow! So cute!
(AMANDA gets on her knees and scratches PUPPY's head, wobbling its floppy ears back and forth)
Oh my God! It's so soft! hehe.
(PUPPY licks your fingers)
Oh! It likes me!
(PUPPY nibbles at your arm)
AH! It bit me!
(PUPPY is still biting, but it's so cute!)
It's still biting me but it's so cute! Aaaaah!
(Some sadness as AMANDA realizes she may have to leave PUPPY alone)
