Description: Jaune Arc [jhaw-n ahrk] is a son of the Arc family, a prestigious knightly order of the nobility. While his family have a history of being warriors, Jaune, inspired by the deeds of his ancestors, was discouraged by his parents to pursue a life as a Hunter. Unsatisfied, this pushes him to enroll into Beacon by himself, albeit with very little experience or combat prowess. Jaune starts as the underdog of Beacon Academy. He fights with a simple sword and shield, an heirloom passed down by his ancestor. He's something of a "cool loser" and acts confident in front of others to fit in.
Voice: While goofy and often the butt of jokes, Jaune is a hard worker and a loyal ally, and when it comes to leading or fighting for others, he doesn't hesitate. Jaune has a "protagonist" type voice, though with a slight nasal quality to it that lends itself to his initial portrayal as a goofball trying to stumble his way, surrounded by way stronger peers. He compensates for this by acting overly confident and sure of himself at times. His voice needs to be versatile enough for comedic, serious and emotional scenes, keeping in mind his voice would mature and become more confident in himself as time goes on.
To those referring to his canonical voice, we ask that you don't lean too much into a super nasal/wimpy voice for him, but more towards a classic teen protagonist type voice.
[acting confident to a female student]
"Hey, hey! The name's Jaune Arc, your new knight in shining armor. You, me, alone in this monster-infested forest... scary stuff. But don't worry, with me around, you'll be completely--"
[a wild spider crawls across his foot and he screams in panic]
"GYAAH! It's a Grimm! Get it off, get it off!!"
[nervously talking to a conductor for the Academy's student-only train]
"Wait waiwaiwait. Hang on a second. That can't be right. My ID's gone... Well, my name should be on record... right? Right?? Heheh..."
[frantic, panicking]
"Huh, not allowed to board?! Come on, surely you can let one little guy through! I'm a student, I swear! I'M WEARING THE UNIFORM!"
[skeptically listening to a dangerous plan. He doesn't sound convinced it will work, but has to do it anyway.]
"I've got a bad feeling. And it's not the indigestion."
there is a bit of a reverb (im not sure of the terminology) kind of, like your in your kitchen or something.
Not sure why. I was using the voice memo app on my phone while in my room. Any suggestions? All feedback is welcome
the usual thing i suggest is using your closet (in between clothes or something) to record so there is no echo/reverb, some other people recommended recording under a blanket so that the sound doesn't bounce off the walls n' such.
