Description: Yang Xiao Long [yang xee-ow loh-ng] is the second protagonist of the story and the older sister of Ruby. She has a rough, tomboyish personality and is a juvenile delinquent constantly finding trouble wherever she goes, solving her problems with her fists.
Despite her rebellious streak, she values her sister the most in the world. Having lost their mother at an early age, Yang has had to raise Ruby, growing up to be highly independent and self-driven, but also is very cynical for her age. She places a lot of hope in Ruby's potential, but views herself as a lost cause and a dead-end.
Beneath all this inner turmoil, she hides all this with her confident personality and easygoing sense of humour. Yang is the type of person who would get in a back alley brawl with someone, then grab a cold drink with them afterwards.
Voice: Yang has a deep, slightly raspy voice with a blunt, tomboy personality. She is a main character and as such we need someone with a good range and performance, able to act in both serious and lighthearted situations. She is also the type to cuss a lot.
We prefer an Asian-American VA, but anyone who can capture her voice and personality well are welcome as well.
[relaxed, casual. Introducing herself to a fellow student.]
"Yang Xiao Long. Yeah, I'm with the girl in the red hoodie."
[laughs, then becomes easy-going and confident.]
"Hahah! You came over to talk to me? Aww, don't be a stranger then."
[The other student is nervous around her. Yang is concerned, but amused at her nervous new friend.]
"Hey hey hey, you okay dude? You're this close to shitting yourself. Just ease up, okay?"
[pensive, comforting Ruby who is trying to enrol into the Academy]
“Ruby... you're special. I'm not like you, and that's why you have to go to Beacon Academy, and get yourself sorted out. You hear?"
[Ruby asks: "What about you?" Yang pauses and is doubtful of herself]
"Like I said… not everyone’s cut out to be a Hunter… or a hero. But as long as you're where you're need to be... I'll get you there. No matter what.”
[badly hurt in a fight]
"Gah... god-DAMN it, that hurt! Rrrgh..."
[psyching herself up to keep fighting]
"Well? That all you got?! COME ON, SHITHEAD!"
Hey Retto! Thanks for auditioning, the performance is strong and I quite liked the intimacy and caring nature you gave in the second section.
