My Amazing Woman, S01E05
tyranitron for Chick Magnuson
Chick is a prototypical (if not stereotypical) American game show host. He is inspired by Bob Eubanks (the original host of the Newlywed Game) and seasoned with a dash or two of Cookie Masterson, the "host" of the video game You Don't Know Jack (played by Tom Gottlieb). While I said he is an American game show host, the accent doesn't have to reflect North America, as Richard Dawson and Jameela Jamil have hosted American game shows. You have to have that slightly sarcastic, always upbeat tone where everything is the greatest thing in the world. Toward the end of the script, you get to do something with a little natural emotion in it, but you spend most of your on mic time right in the game show host lane.
Thank you, Jimmy Taylor. Hello, everyone and welcome to “Till Death Do Us Part” the show that tries to figure out just how smart it was for you to get into a relationship in the first place. You can also win some fantastic prizes. And helping me with all of it is the lovely and talented Prize Princess herself, Paula Plunkett.
That’s right, Paula. Only the winning team gets out of here alive. So, buckle up, buttercup and get ready for round two of “Till Death Do Us Part” starting up right after this!
That’s a whole lot of nothing. But you had a hard row to hoe, as his favorite color was “clear,” his favorite movie was “the one with the guy in it”, his favorite food was “food for thought” and his favorite season was “white pepper.”
What's up tyranitron! I just wanted you to know that your audition was wonderful! I really enjoyed your take on Chick Magnuson, it had a nice cool vibe to it! I would like to see more of what you got! Keep up the great work fellow voice actor!
Oh, thank you so much, I really just let myself have fun with it and didn't do any real voice altering. I've been trying to get more other than the comic dubs I've done. I just slightly upgraded my recording set up a bit more so hopefully I have better success. Still need a foam isolation thing around my mic tho. But with a boom arm I'm not sure what would work.
