A short excerpt from PENELOPE's character profile is as follows:

"PENELOPE ALLSTER is a Sophomore in the Theatre department, and the valedictorian of the Sophomore class. She is white, has blue eyes and wavy blonde hair. She’s 15 years old and she’s 5’6”. Intelligent and a hard worker, Penelope’s need to be the best stems from her desperate desire to be as good as her older sister, Kayla, who graduated top of her class at Harvard Law, and as a result, Penelope feels pressure to perform similarly to her sister. Penelope’s parents would be proud of her no matter what she does and are incredibly supportive. She just does this because she needs her OWN approval. She always feels like she isn’t good enough, and continuously strives to be better, even if there’s nowhere else to go. A good way to describe her would be ”The Mom Friend”. She’s a giver at heart, and cares deeply about her friends, especially Ava Garcia, who she feels drawn to in particular. She learns later it’s because she has a crush on Ava. She will go out of her way to help people, even if she doesn’t know them, which can get her into trouble sometimes. However, she isn’t a pushover. She’s not afraid to stand up for herself or call people out if needed."
