Early ‘30s. Gym teacher. Yeah, I said Gym instead of ‘Physical Education’, live with it. Pessimistic and quick to give up on the students in his low-income school. He accepts the grim reality of his situation and does little to change it. 

  • “I don’t blame him. Science is wasted on most of these kids anyway. A lot of ‘em are going nowhere fast. 

  • “Buddy, there’s always someone trying to kick your feet out from under you. You just gotta kick first.” 

  • “I warned a couple of ‘em, but he was kind of a geek, an outsider, you know? They wouldn’t stop hitting him and he wouldn’t stop being weird. I guess he couldn’t take it.”
