Elray is a main antagonist of the first season, very hotheaded and angry due to trauma after trauma. He spent so much time building up a defensive shell of rage that it become his forefronting personality. He spent most of his childhood vying for love of his mother who hated him more than anything, until she eventually killed herself, and tried to manipulate him into doing the same because she hated his father so much. Now, Elray works as an 'executioner' for the king of Shiakaste.
(Angry, being told he shouldn't be so aggressive and reckless) Ugh, whatever! So long as I get the job done, who cares how I do it!? Just shut up and quit complaining for once.
(Sad, planning to do something extremely dangerous because he's trated like a failure) I know, but... if I do this... maybe I'll finally be more than than just the disgrace of the Nightingales.
(Talking about the girl he loved, angry because he doesn't like the subject) Yes. But she's dead, so what does it matter? I'm never going to forgive him, no matter how close we were. He's the one who got her killed.
