Patience's Tale(CASTING ONGOING)
mimiboss for Patience
Patience is open to interpretation. I however do not want an overly young high pitched tone for her. Think normal teenage girl sounding, 17-18 years of age. Young, slightly mature but lots of energy. She can be bubbly, but not whiny. You all have a fair shot but please do not be upset if in the end I end up still casting myself as her. I have an idea of how I want her to sound but I want to see how you talented people portray her as well in case it ends up being better.Character design at the moment is dark long wavy hair, windswept bangs, light olive skin, dark brown honey eyes, 5'5, wears a black dress, orange and black striped stockings, black boots, ankle high, and a black witch hat with purple stripes and a silver buckle in the middle. She has a wand in her small waist pouch. She’s determined, head strong, and hyper.
Don’t worry if you’ve already auditioned! As long as I can see a link or something to something you’ve already sung or can sing, I will add it to your audition that already exists.
I need to hear how you laugh, snicker, and giggle.
For those of you who auditioned already, if you could upload a separate take that involves singing perhaps your favorite Disney song just to help me get a feel for the sound of the voice when it sings. For those of you who haven’t, just include it here in the audition.
(And now a verbal line)
Patience chuckled.
“You’ve been like this since forever, loosen up, you fruit-loop!” She giggled, scratching Willis under the chin.
More than anything... I want to be accepted. I have that right don't I? Don't we all? NO matter who we are... no where is it set in stone that anyone has to be any one way...right? You're you...and I'm me. What makes us unique isn't the number of people that worship us or even "celebrate" our reason for existence. What makes us special is how we give back. If we don't give back then ....then you have no right to call yourself a "Holiday" because Holidays are there to bring something to people, not take.
(Samhain says something snooty)
That may be the way you did things, but not anymore. Hallows Eve is about having fun! It's about laughter. Sure making people scream is fun but making them remember the excitement, that's why we do it. That's why I will never...become like you.
My name is Patience. Patience Blackburne. I'm the spirit of Halloween. Well, unofficially anyways. This is Willis. He's a spaz. But he's my spaz. Meet Broomy as well. She's ah...she's special. She's my loyal broomstick doggie. (The broomstick magically takes the shape of a broomstick dog when not in use).
I love this voice and the energy, but my main issue is the mic quality.
Thanks! And i’m actually getting a new mic ASAP, this one was broken lol. Any recommendations on which mic I should buy?
A snowball is really great if you're starting out, otherwise obviously if you can spend a bit more to get a better mic I'd shoot for one of the ones more in the under 200$ range. I know starting out you don't need a phenomenal mic, but one that can cut out noise, and gives clear crisp sound is definitely only going to help your auditions.
I’m getting my paycheck from work in a few days and i’ll probably get something in the $200 range ^^ I had a blue yeti but maybe I wasn’t using noise reduction properly? That being said I’ll have a better working mic soon if you decide to put my audition into consideration!
of course! I’m taking my time to find the right understudy for this role :) I look forward to your updated audition and I’d honestly try to network with some other VA’s on here and ask what mics they find are in their budget that works for them :)
How much time do I have to do an updated audition? :)
I got a RodeNT1 and I absolutely love it. Great quality. If you know where to look, you can get it for under $100. I also would recommend buying a Focusrite Scarlet 2i2 (or something close to it), if you don't already have an audio interface. It REALLY helps to improve mic quality.
Thanks! I have a few options in mind that i’m choosing from and this is on the list :D
Might I also suggest the AT2020? That's the mic I use. It IS an XLR mic though, and requires a deck like the Scarlett Solo USB to use.
