Amy Rose is a member of Team Sonic.  She cares greatly for her friends and hates watching others suffer.  In this case, the team is faced with a horrible tragedy so of course, Amy knows she must do whatever she can to help make things right.  Standing up for those who can not stand up for themselves is in her nature.  She's also good at reading people and seeing eye to eye if it serves the greater good.
