I like the voice, but it sounds like you're forcing a gruffness because of your voice cracks/breaks at parts. I'm no good at gruffness either, so I don't have anything for that. But the sternness was executed really well!

Your audition is really quiet. If you're using Audacity to record, an easy way to turn up the volume of recordings is to highlight all (ctrl + A) then go to Effects at the top then Amplify. There you can set much you want to volume to increase.
