Samuel is the main character of the film. He's laid-back and serves as an ear to Arlo's venting. His whole character motivation during the film is that he really just wants to make his food because he's hungry. But because he cares a lot about Arlo and knows how important his sleep is to him, he's trying his best to be quiet. However, Sam isn't the graceful type and makes a lot of mistakes along the way. He is paranoid Arlo will wake up and be angry with him.

Samuel's voice is deeper than Arlo's, and when he's not journeying to the kitchen to make food he sounds fairly relaxed. But once he is on a mission not to wake his roommate his voice becomes frantic, paranoid and stressed.
