Skyrim, a large fantasy province inspired by Scandinavian culture and folklore. Rugged peaks, bellowing winds, tundra like fields, aspen forests in the south and deep fjords with flowing rivers rich with salmon. Home to the hardy Nords. Tall, fair haired humans who value courage in battle above all. Who long to die a glorious death in battle so that they may forever feast and dine in the great mead halls of Sovngarde. Nordic barrows and decrepit crypts built into the sides of the mountains serve as tombs and final resting places for the Draugr, the Viking like ancestors of the Nords.
Skyrim. Home of the dragons who tried to enslave all of humanity eons ago. The land where the Nord humans first settled in Tamriel.
But the Nords were not the first to call this beautiful and ancient land home. Long before their longships hit these shores, Skyrim was home to the Snow elves. A fair and noble race who once called Skyrim home. At first, both races lived in harmony with each other and there was peace but after many years of co-existing, The snow elves soon saw that the Nord population was multiplying at an alarming rate (primarily due to the short lifespans of humans compared to elves).
The snow elves came to the realization that even a large province like Skyrim could not sustain the two great nations. To preserve their homeland, the snow elves made the tough decision to expel the Nords from Skyrim. Soon, War broke out and the Nords although primitive, bolstered by their greater numbers and fearlessness of death managed to overwhelm the Snow elves. The Nords began a Snow Elven genocide and thus the once proud snow elves were pushed to the verge of extinction.
Skyrim was running red from Snow Elven blood and in a final act of desperation, the snow elves went deep underground and sought refuge with the Dwarves. The Dwarves agreed to give them amnesty and protection from the reaving Nords, but at a terrible price. Complete subjugation to the Dwarves along with being stripped completely of their sight. The snow elves agreed and were rendered totally blind by the Dwarves. Thus, the snow elves were reduced to blind slaves of the Dwarves.
The Dwarves used the Snow elves to forge a magical engine in one of their misguided attempts to attain godhood, thus leading to the ultimate demise of all Dwarves. This cataclysm caused all Dwarves to mysteriously and spontaneously vanish. The snow elves, although now free from their Dwarven overlords were still blind and locked deep in the empty halls of their former Dwarven masters. Years of being trapped underground and living in the vilest of conditions caused the once beautiful snow elves, once fairest and most beautiful of all the races to evolve into deformed, sickly and twisted hunched creatures we now call the Falmer (The betrayed).
Thousands of years have passed and the world has forgotten the snow elves. Very few of their ruins remain. Whispers and rumors say some snow elves escaped the Snow elven genocide at the hands of the Nords. Some refused the offer of the Dwarves and sought shelter elsewhere. Not many untainted snow elves remain and to many, they are merely a myth. A fairy tale.
Perhaps a few of them remain, trying to find a home in the very land they once called home. Trying find a cure for their tainted brethren and to one day restore their lost glory. To free the betrayed and the damned from their plight and see their kind flourish and thrive again. To let them see the sun again.
A simple cave in Skyrim might hold many secrets, are you willing to bring them out into the light?

BIO
CHAPTER 1
Born to a snow elven noble family, Saoirse was born in Skyrim during the First Age. Her father Nelaeryn was a well respected lord in the snow elven city of Eiravale, in the region of Lafalien of Old Skyrim. He was a decorated military officer with a long and illustrious career and was given many honors for his distinguished service. He fell in love with a noblewoman called Irithiel, a woman who indirectly saved his life during a whaling expedition and the two would soon wed. They sired two children, twins. Saoirse, who was her father's eldest and Faelar, a younger son by two minutes.
From a young age, Saoirse enjoyed exploration and yearned for adventure. She started by exploring her father's estate and soon began to venture out further, into the forests and glades nearby, much so against her father's wishes. Her younger twin brother, was much more cautious and orderly. Fearful, not wanting to disappoint his father. Trying to be a good soldier, never trying to question his father and always trying to follow his orders, even in childhood.
Saoirse's mother would also discourage her intrepid behavior. She wished Saoirse would reflect more of her family's heritage and would try to be a proper noblewoman but would come to accept that ultimately Saoirse was of a rebellious nature. She prayed to Auriel (A snow elven diety) not to change Saoirse but to give herself the courage to let her daughter do what she wanted, so that she may go find her own way and to keep her safe. Her mother would still want Saoirse to put up appearances and act like a noblewoman's daughter from time to time though, in public events and parties much to Saoirse's annoyance.
After the arrival of the Nords, Saoirse befriended a Nord boy called Bjorn who worked as a stableboy in the Nord village which was a short walk from the snow elven city where her father's estate was. The two became close, almost inseperable. She would often dress like a commoner and run to the village to find the Nord boys to try to play with them, hoping to play and partake in all kinds of games and activities. The Nord boys would often look down upon her, not letting her play with them because of her being an elf and on top of that, a girl. As most people can tell, kids can be cruel and mean.
To them, she looked different. An outsider, and being a girl made it worse. Bjorn would always be there by her side tough, and the two would often play catch by themselves, riding ponies and trying to catch fish with their bare hands. Bjorn's dad like most Nords hated the elves and held much contempt for them. With Bjorn's dad, berating her, calling her names like pointy eared and snow witch was a normal routine. He would strictly order his son not to fraternize with her kind. All this, which try as she did, upset her. Luckily Bjorn would often know how to cheer her up.
At night, she would often go to the glade, lie on the grass and look up to see the shooting stars fly past in the night sky. She loved the night sky and could spend hours looking at the stars, pretending each was a gate into another world, a world of wonder, unlike anything she could imagine, a world she wished she could explore. Saoirse longed to see what the world outside of Lafalien was like.
When Saoirse was 10, She would often make her brother sneak out with her, mostly against Faelar's wishes. She would joke how she was the older sister and because of how proactive she was, would often beat Faelar in physical activities. At times, she would act kinda like a bully big brother would with Faelar, but she would still protect him like an older brother would and loved him as her baby brother. One day, Faelar was injured trying to help Saoirse pick a special flower near a ravine at her behest which almost led to Faelar falling down the deep ravine. Faelar managed to grab hold off a tree vine and Saoirse managed to climb down the fallen tree, almost falling to her own death herself, but with a bit of luck and perhaps the grace of the Divines, was able to save Faelar. Alas, she suffered a moderate gash to the left side of her face from a tree branch trying to grab Faelar before he slipped.
The scar would remain with her for the rest of her life and though the siblings managed to hide the life threatening incident from their parents, Saoirse was no longer allowed to leave the estate boundary walls for many years, and only with the noble guard. The Nord settlements throughout Skyrim continued to grow. The Nords becoming more and more ravenous, their numbers expanding at an alarming rate. Soon, the two races would nary look at each other and to fraternize would be punishable on both sides.
With time, her father taught her how to use the bow and her father would take her on hunting trips and ocean watch, always telling her how much he loved her every step of the way. She would often attend political events at her parents' requests, and even wore those uncomfortable dresses she loathed so much. Faelar followed in his father's footsteps and became a decorated soldier, working with the royal guard. He was en expert swordsman, wielding two mighty elven blades (think Thranduil from The Hobbit).

CHAPTER 2
When she was in her early twenties, (according to human lifespans, in elven she would be in her forties) war broke out with the Nords. The Nords were at the gates, their axes hungry for blood. When it became clear the Nord's numbers were overwhelming, the Snow elves of Eiravale made a last stand. They fought best they could but were forced to retreat and the city was abandoned. Torched to the ground by the barbarous Nords.
During the evacuation of Eiravale, Saoirse and her parents all planned to escape via a secret exit in the estates basement, the children oblivious that their parents never intended to leave with them. The parents, seeing that their children had already entered the clandestine passageway, sealed the tunnel behind them. Her father drawing his sword choosing to die a warrior's death. Saoirse and Faelar poundinng at the stone wall that now separated them from their beloved parents. Her parents' last words being 'We love you Saoirse, our beloved daugter and you Faelar, our beloved son. Look after each other and seek out Celledrim's beacon. We will always be with you'.
Saoirse and Faelar managed to leave the city on horseback, looking back, their home burning behind them. The city slowly becoming a smoldering ruin, fires dancing, the embers still bright red. The Bllizardwatch mountain pass which served as an entrance for the valley just ahead of them, with safe haven so close, the two rode ever harder, only to catch glimpes of torches, warhammers and horned helmets awaiting them. The way was shut, the gates barred by a merciless and blood thirsty war party of marauders led by a large and burly monster of a man who now called himself Bjorn the Bloody.
Bjorn too, was now a grown man. Being human, aged faster than the two siblings and was now the ruthless leader of a sadistic war party. The once kind hearted stable boy with nary a hair on his face whom she once called her best friend and maybe even had a childhood crush on, now stood before them, with snow elven heads strewn in front of him. Sporting an impressive frame and even more impressive beard, with his towering great axe in hand. His horned helmet exaggerating his already massive body and vandalous visage. Seeing the fire and bloodlust in the eyes of her beloved childhood friend, with his insatiable hunger to kill Saoirse and her kind, was truly disheartening. The twins knew the past was just that and there would be no reasoning with this fiend.
Faelar taking a deep breath, dismounted from his horse, and pulled out his elven blades. He looked at Saoirse and with a slight nod signaled her to follow the Moonstone mine to escape the valley and head for safety. The warband drew their crude weapons and began to inch closer. Faelar maintaining his composure, began speaking in ancient snow elvish, almost as if he was directing his words at Saoirse's horse and then he locked eyes with Saoirse. Before Saoirse could even say that she wouldn't leave her baby brother, he gave her horse a firm slap with his sword still in hand.
The horse cried out and galloped with such ferocity and zeal, still unable to wrap her head around what had just happened, Saoirse realized Faelar's words were 'I'm sorry, both of you'.
Behind her, Saoirse began hearing war cries and the sound of clanging and metal striking metal. She couldn't hold back the tears and felt them sliding off her icy skin because of the howling wind and the sheer speed of her steed. She remembered how she almost died trying to save him all those years back and now how he was doing the same. Now he was the protector, willing to do anything for his older sister.
Once out of the valley, the bigger picture soon became clear. She saw the fires and smoke rising over Snow elven cities and villages all over Skyrim. She knew she had to flee the land she once called home, Her beloved Skyrim. It was not safe for her here anymore.

CHAPTER 3
After many trials and tribulations, Saoirse managed to flee the heart of Skyrim and found refuge with the very people who vowed to wipe out her kind of the face of Tamriel. An old Nord widow found her in her barn during a blizzard and took her in and gave her shelter. The Nord widow and her daughter lived in an old farm and shack near the border of High Rock in the outskrts of Skyrim. The widow's daughter called Ebba, was a child maybe of ten winters. The widow herself was an alchemist and local healer.
The widow's husband had died in battle, but surprisingly not at the hands of a Snow Elf, but instead by a Nord. The husband refused to kill women and children, knowing he himself had left a wife and child behind. Her husband's body was delivered to her by a Snow Elf scout.
The widow, was also an illusion mage albeit only a novice. The widow created a glamour spell which would help Saoirse appear more human but it had it's limitations. Saoirse grew out her hair and used painful straps to hide her ears, a limitation of the spell. The glamour spell would dampen her sharp elven features and snow white skin and it mostly did. Her being shorter than average elven height also helped.
Saoirse, after many nights of restless dreams and blood curdling nightmares, slowly came to accept the reality of what had just happened around but she would try not to think about it. She knew she could not despair. She began to help the widow as her assistant and tended to the widow's garden. The widow would rarely get any injured due to the obscure and secluded location of her home, but once or twice she would get some poor Nord boy with an arrow in his lung. Saoirse hated the Nords and the thoughts of killing one of them in their sleep in the medic tent from where she slept would cross her mind, but it became clear to her this was a war fought by both sides and there were atrocities on both fronts.
She still had a hatred for the humans, but she would not kill a human on sight.
Ebba, the widow's daughter, became the younger sister she never had. Saoirse would spend her free time practicing with her father's bow using hay targets or spending time with Ebba.
The war raged on and after much bloodshed, after what seemed like an age the war finally ended. The battlefields like an ocean of corpses, both Nord and Snow elf.
Once the dust had settled, it was all but clear. The snow elves were no more. Skyrim was home to the Nords now. This was the start of man's conquest of the entire continent. A new Empire was founded and all the races began to co-exist, except for the Snow elves. The surviving Snow elves had been betrayed by the Dwarves and at the cruel hands of the Dwarves, suffered a fate worse than death. The Snow elves, now twisted and grotesque reflections of their past selves. Their very souls corrupted. Forever cursed to roam the underground. The deep dark places of the world, where only the bravest or the most foolish dared to go. Feasting on insects, rodents and all manner of filth. But for everyone else, for the first time, there was a glimmer of peace.
Realizing she would no longer be hunted, Saoirse realized now was the time she had been waiting so long for. She began to plan and after a few years of preparations and training, she left the home the widow had left her and returned to the heartland of Skyrim. To find Calledrim's beacon and try to find what was left of her kin and people. To try and restore the snow elf race. Doing this would not be easy, Snow elven cities had been hidden by forgotten magic before their untimely demise. Who knew where the secrets lay.
