Your Turn to Die: Fandub
Ariana Rosario for Sue Miley
Although Miley is called "The Laughing Doll", she isn't as friendly as her name seems to hint at. She enjoys seeing the participants in the death game suffer, and even goes as far to torment them by crushing their hopes. She finds amusement in their despair as the cast start questioning their chances of survival.
(menacingly) "Eheehee... Everyone... how are you feeling? This is a pre-recorded video, so I'm afraid I can't answer any questions. Allow me to thank you, truly, for taking part of the Main Game."
(announcing) "Eheehee. Now everyone, enjoy yourselves as I check your answers! First, the Sage! You were right on everyone, it was Kai Satou! Next, the Keymaster, Eheehee, the fierce battle between you two was a true sight to see! Amazing! It was Sara Chidouin! Aaand! The Sacrifice! The one who dies with objective incomplete isss... Taa-dah! It was Joe Tazuna!"
(announcing) "Come, Wrigglers! Suck all the blood from Joe Tazuna!"
(mockingly) "How cuuute, Sara! Ahaha. Why not? I'll give you a chance. Eheehee, this button will slow the device connected to Joe Tazuna. Just keep pressing it! The device will be slowed the more you press, and maybe even stop! Now keep mashing that button, maybe you'll save him? Heeheehee.."
Hey there! I was the one who was originally cast as Sue Miley, but I dropped it after a while because I realized that I didn't feel secure about playing the part (long story about the insecurity). But I wanna help find someone who can play her well and feel comfortable with doing so. I wanna give you the feedback aspect by aspect, so I wanna start with the reason she's called "The Laughing Doll." The laugh at the beginning sounded a bit too childish to me for some reason. The laugh before announcing she would be checking the answers was better; the escalation was pretty good, but it seemed more Yandere with the giggle part. The one after "How cuuuuuuute, Sara" was pretty good. I imagine Miley as a sort of sadistic Himidere, especially considering that she has a crown on her head. I would suggest that you try a more stuck-up laugh, perhaps even using a bit of a dialect, but I'll get to that in a bit. Next I'd like to talk about the tones, aka the emotions under the words. Right on the word "everyone," you definitely have that malicious tone I'd imagine her having and that's essential to her character. However, I think that in the first line when she's talking about it being prerecorded, try being maybe a bit sarcastic and mocking when you say "so I'm AFRAID I can't answer any of your questions," especially with the emphasis on the word afraid. Her character takes pleasure out of seeing people suffer, making people suffer, or knowing that she's making others suffer, so I'm fairly certain she enjoys the fact that they're not gonna get any answers from the pre-recorded video. Another suggestion I have is perhaps make the word "everyone?" sound more happy and then drop the pitch on "how are you feeling?" to make it more threatening. Like I said, she's basically sadism incarnate, so she likely knows how they're feeling and loves that they're feeling this way. The manic sort-of tone for "enjoy yourselves as I check your answers" is an interesting character choice and it's one I don't think I really considered for her. However the part where tone is most crucial, at least in my opinion, is in the last audition line. I'll take it piece by piece. "How cuuute, Sara!" You have an excellent grasp on the mocking undertone. I'd like to see if you can crank it up a little. "Ahaha. Why not? I'll give you a chance." Maybe try emphasizing "a chance." "Eheehee, this button will slow the device connected to Joe Tazuna. Just keep pressing it! The device will be slowed the more you press, and maybe even stop! Now keep mashing that button, maybe you'll save him? Heeheehee.." You have a little bit of it in your audition, but I imagine that her voice is practically oozing with sadistic condescension while she's saying this. She's practically tempting and teasing Sara with this idea of possibly saving her best friend. Imagine kind of how a kindergarten or preschool teacher would talk to students in their class, but with sadism. Also "maybe you'll save them" didn't really sound like a question. Miley is putting a desperate Sara on the borderline of hope and despair by saying this. The words by themselves seem hopeful, but Miley is phrasing it as a question, so I highly suggest increasing your pitch over the course of you saying "maybe you'll save him?" One of the biggest things I feel you can improve on is tempo. This felt a little too fast for Miley. I imagine her as someone who relishes in being the center of attention, so it's almost like she wants to savor every second that she speaks. Slowing it down will really help, especially with the sadism underneath her words. Finally, this isn't a hard-and-fast rule for Miley, but as I said before, I want to talk about the possibility of incorporating a bit of a dialect into her character. The dialect I'm talking about would be a very high-class American or a standard British dialect, as it would give her more of that arrogance and the aura she gives off that basically tells the captives, "I am superior. I have power over you. You can't defy me without getting killed." For my audition, I took inspiration from Junko Enoshima from "Danganronpa," particularly with her royalty persona. You can use this video for reference if you choose to incorporate it. The part I'm talking about starts at 0:21 and ends at around 0:45: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=49NiYEmObkw&list=PLGKJJhcJXlNw7i05ON_K-zFfvD0zQOboD&index=90 But with that said, you have a lot of potential and seem very comfortable voicing the role. I wish you the best! <3
