Mason, The Shonen Protagonist. Mason is an extremely feels-based person. He likes to have fun and is very open to experience, sometimes to a fault as he will almost always attempt to scratch a short-term itch to the detriment of his long-term survival. Mason is a very caring person and will go out of his way to help others, especially when he believes they are being mistreated. He is also very carefree and lacks a sense of urgency about most things, generally falling back on his belief that things will work out in the end. He’s trusting and optimistic, maybe to a fault, and tries to keep himself that way as he is very happy with the person he has become and always tries to get others to see the world how he does. He has a laid-back, go-with-the-flow kind of attitude that persists even when things aren’t going his way.

On a superficial level, his personality leads people to believe that he doesn’t have many strong feelings. This couldn’t be furthest from the truth, Mason is deeply passionate about protecting the people who mean the most to him. Underneath Mason’s carefree outward appearance there is a much more philosophical side. Mason is deeply concerned with meaning. How to find it, where it comes from, and how to live life in a meaningful way. As the main character, he’s on a quest for meaning because he doesn’t feel he has any.
