Sonic Hyperverse

Project Overview

On the planet Mobius, those with powers are rare in numbers, and most have disappeared, rumored to be captured by the tyrannical Dr. Ivo Robotkik. Sonic the Hedgehog, an orphan of strange circumstances, finds himself in the middle of a war between a resistance force and a robot army -- both searching for the legendary Chaos Emeralds. With newfound friends and foes, it's up to Sonic to shake things up!

Inspired by the works of IDW Comics, Sonic Heroes, Colors, Mania, Adventure and Boom and (a bit) of Archie Comics and Forces, Sonic: Hyperverse is a series about friends, family, and fighting for what's right. 

Howdy! I'm VHS, the director and writer of this story. Once again, I manage to keep coming up with concepts for stories and those then turn documents filled with ideas, then eventually a script appears. This is my daily existence, and Sonic is no exception. 

Just a forewarning, I've already got a VA for the blue blur himself, and it's Bottlecap / James Spruill. 

Same goes for Knuckles -- played by yours truly -- and Shadow, played by Aaryn Weatherford.

And, this also could hopefully turn into a potential universe, given folks enjoy it! I'm a sucker for world-building, and boy howdy, is this universe pretty darn built. Like a prime Arnold Schwarzenegger. (forewarning: some of the icons in use for the roles are not official designs nor are they original works. they are temporary placeholders. however, if you are an artist that drew your respective piece, please let me know so i can properly credit you! and if you wish to have it removed, that's fine, too! just let me know. :))


Also, as with my other projects; please don't be afraid to create your own voice. The voice description is there to guide you, but you get to play this character.

Same thing with my WIP series, "The League", I'm publishing this so I can garner any interest and get a cast going for it. I'm not sure which series I'd wanna do once Captain America: The New Frontier Act One is out, but most likely, it'd be Sonic Hyperverse, since I'm quite excited for it.


This project does have some requirements in mind;


  • Must be atleast 17+ to participate

  • Please put your Discord in the submission or, if you prefer, just DM the one I've put in my social links.

  • Please have a pretty good microphone situation! We're talking USB-connected-to-computer kind of situation, with little to no background noise as much as possible. (I mean, if you send in an audition that sounds great but was recorded on your phone, I ain't gonna stop you!)

  • Please be kind and cordial -- We're all in this together, but being hateful or spiteful gets us nowhere. Harrassment will not be tolerated.

  • Deadlines are pretty important, but I'm sure you know that.

  • Have as much fun as you can! And don't be afraid to chat and shoot questions around!

    howdy, y'all! just wanted to let you know, i've been on and off again on ccc, listening to auditions when i can, and i just wanted to say thank you to the nearly 400 people who have auditioned for this project! i was expecting a lot, but nowhere near as many as it has (at the time of writing) and it means a lot that folks even like this, let alone want to be in it!

A genius in his own right, Tails tries his best to be brave in the face of all adversity... but lightning still makes him jump out of his skin. He's got his heart in the right place and as long as he has friends to back him up, what's the worst that could happen? Well... a lot of things, but still. It's the thought that counts, right?


Voice Description:

Not entirely a departure from Colleen O'Shaughnessy, but I do not want an impression of her Tails.

He's got a twinge of sadness and fear behind every word -- which changes over time as he meets people like Sonic and Amy.

He's got the nature of innocent fascination -- but he's not unaware and he's definitely not afraid to do what's right -- even if he's gotta be pushed into it.

Amy Rose

First things foremost, Amy Rose is no one's damsel in distress, and definitely not an obsessive girlfriend type. She's got

skills of her own -- whether that be with a hammer or a blowtorch is up to her. She knows good people, even if she has to convince them they're good. She fights because she can, and feels that she should. Definitely hammer-happy at times, though.


Voice Description:

Definitely based on the "energetic tomboy" of Cindy Robinson's and Lisa Ortiz's performances with more emphasis on the tomboy part. She's headstrong and takes no mess from no one. Inspired by characters like Dani Rojas (Far Cry 6), Leia Organa (Star Wars), and Jill Holtzmann (Ghostbusters: Answer the Call), so she's got a bit of gruff guerilla but tends to get excited easily, and sometimes, you might catch her nerding out over something.

Trying his best to move on from his past, Fang originally wanted no part in any kind of war. Being formerly a GUN agent means he's seen his fair share, but that also means he's well-trained to do exactly what it is he does. Eventually, he had two choices -- watch people he loves suffer for nothing or stand up like he knows he can. Eventually, he made that choice. And he was all the better for it.

Australian little bugger, isn't he? Wisened and cheeky, he seems to always want the last laugh. Inspired by Crowley (Good Omens), Crowley (Supernatural), and Max Rockatansky (Mad Max franchise)

Tangle the Lemur

A fighter at heart, Tangle has always had a fire in her heart. She's got one friend in this world, and she'll do anything for her.

She practically jumps at the thought of a fight, and will do it with a smile. A bit loosey-goosey, but who isn't when your in the midst of a war against a tyrannical inventor and your first thought is; who can I punch?

A bit rough around the edges, and about as pumped as a dog in an open park. Inspired by Ellie from The Last of Us.

A quiet, reserved character, Whisper rarely speaks. But her history speaks volumes. She keeps to herself, but couldn't sit idly by and let things go down. Although who she is may remain a mystery, where her loyalty lies is very clear. She's a good person... even if she questions that notion from time to time.


Voice Desc:

Inspired by the Thirteenth and Twelfth Doctor (Jodie Whittaker and Peter Capaldi) when she speaks, she's got a direct voice and an even more direct demeanor. If you wish to do an accent, feel free to do so!

Being well-mannered and filled with a bright sense of humor, Jewel finds herself being Tangle's compliment. She helps fund the resistance, which has given her a special role in the fight against Robotnik and his army. Although, she's not much of a fighter at all. Sometimes, she has to push herself, even if it leads to her getting stressed out. Nonetheless, she won't stop until she knows the world -- and Tangle -- are safe.


Voice Desc:

Slightly soft-spoken, with a sense of optimism behind every word. A good inspiration could be Luz Noceda (The Owl House), 

  • "The world needs people like you, Tangle. So even if you go your own way, it's okay. I'll be okay."

  • "Hi! I'm Jewel. Founder and manager of Spiral Hill's Mineral Museum. How may I help you?"

  • "My, you all seem like you need a vacation. If you'd like, I could handle any Resistance necessities from time to time... I like to keep myself busy, heh."

Sticks the Badger

A byproduct of living on her own, Sticks is free-spirited, energetic, and primal. Although her mind wanders from time to time, especially due to her limited technological intelligence, she easily and quickly can switch into a master of combat and survival. She speaks her mind with little to no filter, and tends to be socially uncalibrated. She tries her best to be friendly despite her trust issues.


Voice Guide

Inspired by Michonne from The Walking Dead, and Okoye from the MCU, both played by Danai Guirira, so she's got a powerful and forward voice, but can be soft and emotional at times.

  • "I knew the day would come... avast ye! You stinky... blue thing! Get off of my land at once... or you will be obl... oblit... ugh, you'll be killed really hard and painfully!"

  • "And what is this, hm? A listening device for robots to know our every move?! ... Oh. It's a... phone...? Hm... Sure...."

  • "Oh-ho-ho... bet you didn't see that coming! All your fancy machinery and you couldn't spot one little old-- (something flies at her) WAAH!"

Rouge the Bat

You don't wanna cross Rouge. The elusive yet charming and calculated personality flows through her like a breeze. She's smooth like butter and sneaky as can be. You never know what side she's really on -- except her own, of course. (She debuts as a smaller cameo role in this season, but if we're lucky, she'll have a much bigger role in the future!)


Voice Description: Definitely inspired by Karen Strassman's performance, but not an exact replica. She's got the suaveness of Jessica Rabbit (Who Framed Roger Rabbit) and the tenacity and ferocity of Lara Croft (Tomb Raider franchise)

  • "Hey there, lover boy. Why don't you go fetch some sticks while I steal your precious emerald, hm?"

  • "You know, as fast as you are... I can hear you coming from a mile away. Take that as advice, eh? You never know who's listening."

Espio the Chameleon

Self-centered and single-minded, Espio tends to be serious and focused, despite being laid back and calm most of the time. And although he seems to have a hard shell, his heart is steadfast in the lane of justice and won't stop until things are rectified. This is good for his friends... and bad for his enemies.


Voice Desc: I don't really know how else to describe him other than a weird almalgamation of Puss In Boots (Antonio Banderas) and Tom Hanson (21 Jump Street (not the comedy, the show)), he's got a heroic, laid-back tone. If you wish to, you can also take inspiration from the games' version.

  • "The Chaotix answer to no-one. We stand to question everyone."

  • "Stand down, Vector. We don't need unnecessary violence. The time will come to do our duty."

As loudmothed as they come, Vector isn't afraid to pummel some heads. He keeps it cool... most of the time. He's keen on the aggressive approach when it comes to cases, but always looks out for those being wronged. He can be charismatic and charming, kind and optimistic, and his head tends to poke around in the clouds with Charmy from time to time.


Voice Desc: Gruff and a bit deep, but not too deep. A good inspiration would be Donkey Kong (The Super Mario Bros. Movie (2023)) or, y'know, the games' version of Vector.

  • "Hey, uh... Espio? Were you the one who was supposed to pay the electric bill? ... No? S'pose that was me then... damn."

  • "Never leave a job unfinished! That's our mantra! Or... uh, my mantra, I guess. Heh."

Hyperactive and scatterbrained, Charmy isn't exactly the best of detectives. He acts first and questions later, and sometimes that gets him in a bit of a pickle. But he's kind and good-natured, and comes up with ideas that not many people could conjure up. He's a valuable asset... even if he's focusing on something completely different.

  • "Woah-woah-woah. I don't mean to alarm anyone, but I don't think his arm is supposed to bend like that...!"

  • "Back off! I-I've got a stinger! I know how to use it!"

Strong-minded and opinionated, Sally finds herself being a leader in a war she never asked for. She's the daughter of the Kingdom of Acorn -- a relatively ancient family. She prefers to be a mediator, but will step up to challenge anyone that gets in the way of the Freedom Fighters -- her faction against Eggman -- and isn't afraid to get her hands dirty. Not in the slightest.


Voice Description: Firm and foreward when she wants to, yet always open for soul-searching and optimism, so she's got a bit of softness. But don't let that confuse you. Inspired by Rey (Star Wars), Daenerys Targaryen (Game of Thrones) and Clara Oswald (Doctor Who).

A bit short-tempered, witty, and reckless, Rotor has no hesitation in taking on Eggman and his robots. He's confident, but can definitely smell when it gets fishy. He's got a mission and a drive, and whether or not that will lead to him gaining a family in the Freedom Fighters is up in the air.

I'm not gonna lie to you. I tried my best to not say "Inspired by Markiplier..." But it just didn't work out. And I don't mean like the stereotypical Markiplier impression. I mean, normal, everyday talking Markiplier. Like, 2020 - present Markiplier. Kinda chill, but can still totally scream his head off if need be.

  • "I didn't need any convincing to join the Freedom FIghters; I just did it. No questions asked."

  • "That's it... walk right into my trap, you stupid badnik..."

A holographic program, Nicole tends to be logic-oriented and calculated, but is beginning to have a mind of her own. She's loyal to Sally, and as such, is loyal to the Freedom Fighters. She has a tough time understanding life-like concepts, but wants to become as real as she can. If for anyone, for Sally most of all.

Inspired by Kamala Khan (Ms. Marvel (Disney+)), Enola Holmes (Enola Holmes), and Nancy Wheeler (Stranger Things), she's got a powerful voice that tends to show itself when the going gets rough.

Polite, considerate, yet brave and fun-loving, Cream knows she's not exactly the best choice to be on a team of fighters. She tries her best to act as a liaison for the group, a good first impression. But, don't let her outward personality fool you into thinking she's weak. She may get scared easy, and cling to others for strength, but push come to shove... she'll do both.

  • "You're friends with the Princess? Well, a friend of a friend is always a friend! So, consider me yours! I'm Cream. Nice to meet you."

  • "Sadness is when your heart really hurts. I don't like sadness. Do you?"

  • "I'm ready to do my best, Princess! Ooh, that rhymed."

Cheese is a very loyal Chao. He won't let anything get in the way between him and Cream. He's the adventurous type, and as such, is very brave. His emotions tend to reflect Cream's, and he can't stand to see her hurt in any way.

A devout pacifist, Mighty just wants to help out where he can. Unfortunately, most of the time that leads to fighting. He joined the Freedom Fighters because of the opportunity to travel -- Mighty wants to see the world someday -- given that it's not been ravaged or destroyed by Eggman's actions. He can't stand for the endangering of innocents, and, as such, will gladly put his pacifism to the side to fight for what's right.

Ray the Flying Squirrel

Optimistic yet timid, Ray tries his best to act as the voice of reason at times, making sure no-one loses themselves trying to fight this war. He stands with his best friend -- Mighty -- and as such, tries his best to do most of the fighting, since he knows he's a pacifist. In fact, Mighty's the whole reason he joined the Freedom Fighters. Try as he might, he knew Mighty couldn't fight the war on words alone, and as such, stepped in to help as much as he can. And, since he's inseperable from Mighty, the two make a combination you don't wanna get on the bad side of.

Tommy Turtle

Although he tends to be clumsy and jumpy, Tommy Turtle's got a heart of gold. Being one of Sonic's close friends instilled a newfound passion in him to stand up and fight, despite not having any powers. With his slingshot by his side, he proves himself a fine member of the Freedom Fighters, and being a tinkerer to boot means that he can invent new ways to help the battle against the Badnik Army.

(tommy's look is kinda ambiguous rn, but he does not resemble the archie comics version)


Voice Desc:

Kinda inspired by Jaleel White's Sonic voice, so he sounds light and cool with a splash of innocence. (I don't really know how else to describe it lol)

Dr. Ivo Robotnik

Dr. Robotnik needs no introduction... but I'll give him one anyways. He's a maniac at heart. A crazed inventor, always finding himself obsessed with something -- his latest being powered Mobians and Chaos Emeralds -- yet also a powerful tyrant, holding his iron fist over Mobius with his advanced technologies. However, something is tragic about him -- his origins, albeit shrouded in mystery, are deep and sad and seem to impact him more than he realizes. But that won't stop him from getting what he wants. Nothing will.


Voice Desc:

Inspired by the video games, obviously, as well as a dash of Jim Carrey's performance (please do not just do impressions of his Eggman), along with the Sixth Doctor (Doctor Who), he's a rather cynical and pungent Robotnik, with a slight suave and an overboard sense of i'm-always-right-ness.

Dr. Flynn Starline

Starline's no joke. He's Robotnik's right hand man, and he knows it. Starline is also a fellow scientist, but where Eggman shines in technology, Starline flourishes in chemistry and biological innovation. He won't step out of line with Eggman, but he can't deny he wants his own spotlight someday -- his own statues and posters. Try as he might, he too has an ego, and that may very well get in his own way.


Voice Desc:

Taking some heavy inspiration from characters like Kilgrave (Jessica Jones), Herbert West (Re-Animator), with some dabbles of Poison Ivy and Mr. Freeze (DC Comics) and a dash of Wayne Salinzki (Honey, I Shrunk The Kids), He's definitely a scientist hell-bent on making his mark, so he carries himself quite high, and crumbles when he fails.

(even though his accent is listed as british, i'm open to non-british takes as well.)

Orbot

Intelligent and level-headed, Orbot clearly can see the flaws that seem to coat his creator's plans. Although he is a product of Robotnik's design, he tends to be rather cynical and sarcastic when it comes to working for the mad inventor. He also seems to have next to no filter, plainly stating what comes to mind as if anyone asked. But, since his "brother", Cubot, is rather dim-witted, Orbot rises to the occasion when need be. Even if he makes it absolutely obvious that he doesn't want to.

Inspired by what I can only describe as "whenever Tom Kenny does the Spongebob voice and he cusses", and some parts inspired from Huey, Louie and Dewey (Ducktales), he's got a slightly higher-pitched voice and veers on the border of annoying and loveable.

  • "Ah, yeah. Sorry about that. The boss has a certain dramatic flair that he expects us to cater to. Just roll with it, y'know?"

  • "Hey, boss? Could you call me another time? Kinda busy stacking these assorted tools in alphabetical order. It helps with my anxiety."

  • "Cubot, you bucket of bolts. He didn't actually want a flippin' cheeseburger! And there's onions on it! When he asked for no onions!! Gah, you're an idiot!"

Good-hearted and easy to please, Cubot's light-hearted but dim-witted nature makes him a (partially) competent henchman for Robotnik to kick around. Like Orbot, he tends to be lazy from time to time, but his laziness is doubled. He also has no capacity to understand sarcasm, and as such, finds himself being the bane of everyone's existence. But, he's loyal to the cause, and, although he might miss a beat or two, will do anything for his creator. Just might not be on time. And he also might not wanna do it.


  • "Hey! You can't talk to me that way! Mr. Robotnik says I'm special! Which means I'm superior to you in every way! Ha!"

  • "Do you want onions on that cheeseburger, sir?"

  • "Sonic this, Sonic that. You know what I think could be way cooler?! Cubot Hyperverse! Got a nice ring to it, don't ya think?"
