Broadway Boyfriends

Broadway Boyfriends

Project Overview

Broadway Boyfriends is a coming-of-age rom-com about a young man from Michigan who moves to New York to pursue his dream of making it on Broadway. At just 18, he finds himself in a chaotic shared apartment filled with aspiring artists, all trying to carve out their own paths in the city. As he navigates auditions, rehearsals, and side jobs, he unexpectedly grows close to one of his roommates—someone who turns his world upside down. What starts as just sharing a space soon turns into a romance filled with passion, rivalry, and the realization that some dreams extend far beyond the stage. With charm, humor, and a touch of musical flair, Broadway Boyfriends is a story about big dreams, first love, and the magic of New York City.

  • Personality: Oliver is introverted, sensitive, and has social anxiety. He often feels like the “little boy” in the room, the cute one everyone thinks should get a boyfriend. Oliver struggles with depression and suicidal thoughts, sometimes engaging in self-harm (cutting). Despite his struggles, Oliver is deeply loved and supported by his roommates, who are always there for him, even when they don’t fully understand his mental health.

  • Hobbies: Oliver has a deep love for music, playing guitar and piano (Klavier) as a way to express himself and process his emotions. He also enjoys cooking and baking for his roommates, finding peace and escape from his thoughts while in the kitchen.

  • Relationships: Though he’s the “cute one” everyone thinks should find love, Oliver has difficulty with romantic relationships due to his fear of intimacy and struggles with self-worth. His journey will focus on learning to accept help from others, exploring his self-worth, and growing emotionally, especially through his deepening relationship with Aidan.
